PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mesoporous metal nanoparticle having excellent catalytic activity.SOLUTION: The mesoporous metal nanoparticle can be produced by using a solution containing a surfactant at concentration of critical micelle concentration or more, a metal ion and a reductant, and proceeding the reaction under a condition where the reduction of metal ion is slow, to synthesize a metal nanoparticle having a mesoporous structure with the surfactant micelle as template.
