According to an embodiment of the present invention, provided is an apparatus for passenger identification for an automobile comprising: a weight sensor which detects first and second weight values that are applied to first and second areas of a front passenger seat of an automobile; an acceleration sensor which detects first and second acceleration that are applied respectively in the first and second axial directions crossing each other; and a control unit which calculates the slope of the automobile with the first and second acceleration values, calibrates the first and second weight values with a predefined weight calibration value that corresponds to the slope of the automobile, and calculates the total weight of a passenger who is seated at the front passenger seat to identify whether the passenger is an adult or a child. |
