PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detection apparatus configured to improve pedestrian protection performance without impairing design of a front grille.SOLUTION: On a back face 14 of an obstacle detection apparatus 10, a cable connector 18 is arranged with its short side facing back in a vehicle longitudinal direction. A distance L1 between the obstacle detection apparatus 10 and a rear member 60 is longer than a distance L2 with the rear member 60 to be obtained when arranged with a long side facing back in the vehicle longitudinal direction, thereby improving pedestrian protection performance. The cable connector 18 arranged on the back face 14 of a device body 12 cannot be seen through an opening of the front grille 42, thereby preventing design from being impaired. |
