PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make sensors inherent to engagement mechanisms nonessential and achieve a function equivalent to the case of using the sensors.SOLUTION: A control device is for an automatic transmission comprising an input shaft which is rotated by power from a driving source, and an output member to which rotation of the input shaft is transmitted while being changed in speed. The automatic transmission comprises plural planetary gear mechanisms which have plural rotation elements comprising a sun gear, a carrier and a ring gear, and plural engagement mechanisms which can interconnect between the rotation elements, between the input shaft and the rotation element or between the rotation element and a casing. The control device controls the engagement states of the plural engagement mechanisms to a combination of not rotating the input shaft, and at that time, if the input shaft is rotated, determines that at least one engagement mechanism among the plural engagement mechanisms has failure. |
