PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a device for treating a sausage strand compared with a well-known device and detect accumulation of organic materials in an irradiation room.SOLUTION: A device (1) for treating a sausage strand includes: at least one microwave applicator (7) having at least one irradiation chamber (11), disposed with an associated microwave generating unit for generating microwave radiation to be supplied by the irradiation chamber; and at least one conveyor unit (17) for conveying a sausage strand (2) through the at least one irradiation chamber. The device for treating the sausage strand includes at least one measuring instrument for detecting at least one measurement value served as a measure of a temperature in the irradiation chamber.
