The present invention relates to a display device and a method for optically compensating the same. The method according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: displaying a test image; obtaining first photographed data and second photographed data by dividing a screen into a first region, a second region, and a third region and respectively photographing a region including the first and second regions and a region including the second and third regions; extracting brightness data of the first and second regions from the first photographed data and extracting brightness data of the second and third regions from the second photographed data; calculating brightness data of one corrected second region by differently weighting brightness data of the second region extracted from the first photographed data and brightness data of the second region extracted from the second photographed data about the brightness data of the second region extracted to be overlapped; generating brightness data by pixel from the brightness data of the first region, brightness data of the second region, and brightness data of the third region; generating correction parameter by pixel from the brightness data by pixel; storing the correction parameter by pixel; and correcting brightness by pixel by using the correction parameter by pixel.
