FIELD: physics, communications.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication engineering. The method of placing a heat-shrinkable tube on a cable includes selecting the size of the heat-shrinkable tube based on the conditionwhere d is the inner diameter of the heat-shrinkable tube before shrinking, cm; dis the outer diameter of the cable, cm, on which the heat-shrinkable tube is placed; pulling the heat-shrinkable tube on to the cable and shrinking the heat-shrinkable tube by directed thermal action, followed by measuring the inner diameter of the heat-shrinkable tube and the outer diameter of the cable, checking if the conditionis satisfied, where dis the inner diameter of the heat-shrinkable tube after shrinking; dis the outer diameter of the cable on which the heat-shrinkable tube is placed, from where the quality of placing the heat-shrinkable tube on the cable is determined. The method includes, before pulling the heat-shrinkable tube from weft polyethylene terephthalate filament yarn and polyolefin monofilament yarn and a main polyethylene terephthalate thread, determining shrinkage at a given temperature in the range of 100-200°C of said separate weft polyolefin monofilament yarn with a shape memory effect, determining shrinkage of a reference heat-shrinkable tube at a given temperature in the range of 100-200°C, determining the average arithmetic value of the shrinkage thereof; Further, determining the temperature coefficient, used to determine the shrinkage value of the heat-shrinkable tube of the selected diameter, while simultaneously determining the shrinkage value of the tube. In order to check if the conditionis satisfied, the predicted inner diameter of the selected heat-shrinkable tube after shrinking is calculated using the formula: d=d(1-e), where eis the predicted shrinkage of the heat-shrinkable tube at a selected temperature in the range of 100-200°C.
