Disclosed are an electrode assembly which can alleviate the degree of twist of the electrode assembly due to a twist phenomenon, and a secondary battery including the electrode assembly. The electrode assembly according to the present invention is a jelly-roll type electrode assembly having a width value greater than a thickness value, the electrode assembly comprising: a positive electrode plate to which a positive electrode tab is attached; a negative electrode plate to which a negative electrode tab is attached; and a separator interposed between the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate, wherein the positive electrode tab and the negative electrode tab are configured to be disposed at the outermost of a jelly-roll, and the positive electrode tab and the negative electrode tab are spaced a certain distance apart.
