METHOD FOR ISOLATING MELITTIN FROM BEE VENOM

The present invention provides a method for isolating pure melittin from bee venom at a high yield by using a cation exchange resin. According to the method of the present invention, pure melittin may be simply and highly effectively produced from bee venom. The method comprises the steps of: (i) obtaining a refined bee venom solution by dissolving bee venom in distilled water or a buffer solution and centrifuging the same to remove precipitates and lipid layers and take an intermediate solution layer; (ii) injecting the refined bee venom solution in a cation exchange resin column and equilibrating the same through the distilled water or buffer solution; and (iii) performing 0 to 100% gradient elution on a solution including 0.2 to 5 M of salts in the distilled water or buffer solution.
