<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of inexpensively and easily manufacturing a protective cover preventing an external damage of an article. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes the steps of: boiling a liquid substance having a boiling point under 0.1 MPa higher than a Vicat softening point of a thermoplastic resin constituting a sheet and lower than the maximum service temperature of the article; heating the sheet with the liquid substance; pressing the softened sheet to the article; heating the liquid substance which presses the sheet from the surface opposite to the surface in contact with the article and which has a boiling point under 0.1 MPa higher than the Vicat softening point of the thermoplastic resin and lower than the thermal resisting temperature of the article, while heating the sheet by the liquid substance; heating the thermoplastic resin-made sheet through transmission of heat from the liquid substance; pressing the softened sheet to the article; and pressing the sheet from the surface opposite to the surface in contact with the article while the sheet is heated by the liquid substance.
