Provided are an image capturing device, an image capturing method, and a program, by which an image of a subject with natural posture and expression can be captured without the subject being conscious. An image capturing device (1) is provided with: a display control unit (156) which causes a display unit (31) to display an expression guide image in which at least part of the facial expression of the subject is changed; an expression determination unit (154) which determines a similarity between the facial expression of the subject in an image corresponding to image data generated by an image capturing unit (10) and the facial expression of the subject in the expression guide image displayed by the display unit (31); and an image capturing control unit (155) which causes the image capturing unit (10) to continuously capture images of the subject until the expression determination unit (154) determines that the facial expression of the subject in the image and the facial expression of the subject in the expression guide image match.
