PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device power saving control method and a communication device that are able to improve power saving effect.SOLUTION: The present invention improves power saving effect of a communication device by coordinating power saving control timing of communication devices on the basis of a control message. A communication device power saving control method according to the present invention performs: by each of an ONU and HGW, a control message generation transmission procedure of transmitting a control message including a break time generated based on prescribed information to the other; by the ONU and HGW having received the control message, a transmission stop procedure of stopping frame transmission between them during the break time; and by the ONU and HGW having received the control message, a power supply control procedure of performing power supply restriction to part of components of its own on the basis of time when the control message has been received and the break time. |
