PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress energy consumption of a position information acquisition target terminal.SOLUTION: A position information acquisition system includes: a terminal; and a position information acquisition server that acquires position information on the terminal. The terminal includes: a radio-wave-intensity measuring unit that receives a first radio wave intensity of each radio wave received from a plurality of access points, and that makes the received first radio wave intensity correspond to an identifier of each access point; and a movement/stop determination unit determining whether the terminal moves or stops. The position information acquisition server includes: a position information table in which a second radio wave intensity of each radio wave received in advance from the access points is made to correspond to position information indicating a position at which each radio wave is received in advance; and a radio wave intensity/position conversion unit that searches the second radio wave intensity corresponding to the received first radio wave intensity that corresponds to the identifier of one of the access points from the position information table in response to terminal stop indicated by a determination result of the movement/stop determination unit, and that acquires position information corresponding to the searched second radio wave intensity.
