The present invention relates to gas a polymer-clay hybrid nanocomposite with gas barrier properties, and more specifically, to gas a polymer-clay hybrid nanocomposite with gas barrier properties, comprising sepiolite nanoparticle with a needle-type structure, which is surface-reformed with a silane compound containing an amino group, and a polymer containing a functional group which can react with the amino group. The nanocomposite of the present invention induces the sepiolite with a needle-type structure into a polymer matrix, thus can improve mechanical properties, thermal stability, and gas barrier properties.
