<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is unlikely to generate toner contamination on an edge or the rear surface of a transfer material even when a control according to a control image is executed, or the image forming apparatus is reactivated after removal of a jammed transfer material.SOLUTION: After execution of a control according to a control image, an intermediate transfer belt 181 is rotated while separated from a secondary transfer roller 140, and a toner image carried on the intermediate transfer belt 181 is recovered by a belt cleaning device 116. An image forming apparatus applies on a discharge needle 12 a voltage having the same polarity as the charging polarity of the toner when the discharge needle is opposite to the control image. When a toner image having a first number as the number of being electrically recovered passes the discharge needle 12, a voltage having a smaller absolute value is applied than that of the case in which a toner image having a second number as the number of being electrically recovered, smaller than the first number passes the discharge needle 12.</p> |
