PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long life capacitor.SOLUTION: The capacitor includes: a capacitor element which has a cathode and an anode opposing to each other; and an enclosure case for storing the capacitor element together with electrolyte. The electrolyte contains a lactone compound. At least one of the cathode and the anode of the capacitor element contains active carbon. Entire surface functional group density D (meq/g/nm) of the active carbon in average cross section of pores is 0.152 or less, which is calculated from the formula below.
