PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a piezoelectric ceramic substrate hard to cause cracking owing to the handling thereof; a piezoelectric actuator substrate arranged by use such a piezoelectric ceramic substrate; a liquid discharge head; and a recorder.SOLUTION: A piezoelectric ceramic substrate 21 is composed of a tabular piezoelectric ceramic substrate, which comprises a lead zirconate titanate as a primary component. In the piezoelectric ceramic substrate, the calcium content in a grain boundary portion at a position of a depth of 10 μm from at least one principal surface of the ceramic substrate is 0.2 mass% or more which is higher than the calcium content in a crystal grain. The arrangement like this can make the piezoelectric ceramic substrate 21 hard to cause the destruction from a grain boundary, and bring a property such as a "d constant" of piezoelectricity of the piezoelectric ceramic substrate to a relatively high condition.
