In the present invention, a control device for a compression-ignition engine is provided with a controller configured so that an engine main unit is operated by allowing combustion by compression-ignition when the operational state of the engine main unit is in a compression-ignition range. When the operational state of the engine main body is in a prescribed range with high load in the compression-ignition range, in a low-speed range, the controller makes the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) rate low, using a gas-state adjusting system, so that the excess air ratio (λ) of the mixed air in the cylinder is lean and greater than 1, while maximizing the fullness of the cylinder, and in a high-speed range with higher speeds than in the low-speed range, the controller makes the EGR rate high, using the gas-state adjusting system, so that the excess air ratio (λ) of the mixed air in the cylinder is 1 or less, while maximizing the fullness of the cylinder. |
