Provided are the following: [1] a xylylene diamine composition which contains xylylene diamine and a compound represented by general formula (1), wherein the content of the compound represented by general formula (1) is 0.001-0.1 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of xylylene diamine; and [2] a method for producing a polyamide resin, which includes a step of introducing the compound represented by general formula (1), a diamine that includes xylylene diamine (excluding the compound represented by general formula (1)) and a dicarboxylic acid into a reaction system and carrying out a polycondensation reaction, wherein the introduced quantity of the compound represented by general formula (1) is 0.001-0.1 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of xylylene diamine. (In general formula (1), n and m are each independently an integer between 0 and 6. However, it is not possible for both n and m to be 1.)
