PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the speed of a writing time and increase a writable capacity.SOLUTION: A memory system includes a nonvolatile memory and a controller. The memory includes: a plurality of first blocks where data is written in a first mode; and a plurality of second blocks where data is written in the first mode or a second mode in which the storage capacity per unit volume is larger than that in the first mode. The plurality of first blocks include a third block where valid data is not stored; and the plurality of second blocks include a fourth block where valid data is not stored. The controller writes data, which is requested to be written from a host, in the third block if the number of third blocks is smaller than a first threshold value; and writes in the fourth block if the number of third blocks is larger than the first threshold value. |
