The invention relates to a holding device for a syringe pump, the holding device being configured for holding the barrel of a syringe and comprising a rotatable holding member (11) which is rotatable from an open into a closed position, wherein the holding member (11) is configured in such a way that in the closed position the syringe barrel will be secured between a portion of the rotatable holding member (11) and a fixed section of the syringe pump.
