This sample transfer device is provided with sample container transfer mechanisms (100, 200) which are arranged between a conveyance path (600) for conveying a sample container holder (2) to one of multiple analysis devices (400, 500), and said analysis devices (400, 500), wherein a sample container (1) housing a sample (1b) is mounted in the sample container holder (2). The sample container transfer mechanisms (100, 200) transfer the sample container (1) between the sample container holder (2), which is conveyed by the conveyance path (600), and a sample container rack (3), which is used for mounting the sample container (1) in the analysis devices (400, 500) and for conveyance. The sample transfer device determines whether or not an analysis device (400, 500) is in a state suitable for receiving the sample container (1), and if said analysis device (400, 500) is determined not to be in a state suitable for receiving, controls the sample container transfer mechanism (100, 200) to convey the sample container (1) to the other analysis device (400, 500) via the conveyance path (600). By this means, it is possible to suppress delays in analysis processing and decreases in throughput. |
