PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a line segment of a register mark with high accuracy regardless of a condition of a medium-to-be-cut and a foreign matter.SOLUTION: The line segment detector comprises: a pen block 14 mounted with a reading sensor 16 that detects light reflected from a surface of a medium-to-be-cut 2; a transversely moving device 17 that moves the pen block 14 in a two-dimensional direction relative to the medium-to-be-cut 2; a driving control unit 22 that drive-controls the transversely moving device 17; and a control device 5 that arithmetic processes output of the reading sensor 16. When detecting a region having lower reflectivity than the reflectivity of a blank part of the medium-to-be-cut 2 on the basis of change in sensor output of the reading sensor 16 when the reading sensor 16 is moved in a Y-direction parallel to the medium-to-be-cut 2, the control device 5 moves the reading sensor 16 parallel to the medium-to-be-cut 2 and in a X-direction orthogonal to the Y-direction, and determines that the regions are line segments 4a and 4b, on the basis of change in the sensor output in predetermined scan regions L1 and L2 defined as ranges to be determined along a second direction including a point where a part of the regions is detected along a first direction. |
