PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply a wire to a welding-target portion so as to appropriately friction stir a wire and a base material of the welding target portion (inner corner portion) in a case of friction-stirring the inner corner portion formed by two metal members butted together.SOLUTION: A friction stir welding apparatus 1 includes: a rotational tool 2 including a stirring pin 21 provided on a tip end thereof; a shoulder 8 into which the rotational tool 2 is inserted; a rotation drive device 41 driving the rotational tool 2 to rotate axially; a pressing device 42 pressing the rotational tool 2 and the shoulder 8 against an inner corner portion 90; a moving device 43 moving the rotational tool 2 and the shoulder 8 in a forward direction along the inner corner portion 90; and a wire heating device 45 heating a wire 50 to be friction-stirred together with two metal members (welding target portions 91 and 92) by the stirring pin 21.
