PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of automatically correcting torsion of an electric welded steel pipe occurring in an electric welded steel pipe production line.SOLUTION: A torsion prevention system for an electric welded steel pipe is provided in which a skew roll 2 for torsion correction and a seam position detecting sensor 3 are arranged behind a squeeze stand of the electric welded steel pipe, and a skew angle of the skew roll is automatically controlled according to a torsion angle of the electric welded steel pipe detected by the seam position sensor 3. The control model is preferably determined using the fast-sample and fast-hold method enabling a high frequency response characteristics to be approximated by frequency characteristics greater than an operation period of a discrete time controller.
