In order to prevent initial slipping during starting, this traction control device is provided with a drive power source which outputs power to the drive wheels of the vehicle, a vehicle speed sensor which detects the wheel speed of the non-driven wheels of the vehicle, and a target speed limit generating means which determines the road state from the target drive torque of the vehicle, the wheel speed of the non-driven wheels, and an acceleration operation amount signal from the driver and generates a target speed limit for the vehicle. The target speed limit generated by the target speed limit generating means is switched in stages in accordance with a control mode which is classified according to how slippery the road surface is in the speed range in which the speed of the drive wheels cannot be detected. |
