The invention relates to a method for activating at least one protective element arranged in a vehicle seat for the positioning of an occupant sitting on the vehicle seat, wherein, when a collision imminent for the vehicle is detected, the at least one protective element is triggered by activation of an actuator. According to the invention, following non-detection of a collision imminent for the vehicle and subsequent detection of the occurrence of a collision of the vehicle, the at least one protective element is triggered at or after a collision time by activation of the actuator, which is of irreversible design. |
