In a photoelectric hybrid substrate according to the present invention, both ends of a strip-shaped extended insulating layer (1) are respectively formed into photoelectric module sections (A, A') equipped with electrical wiring (2) formed of a conductive pattern and an optical element (10) on the front surface thereof, and a portion of the insulating layer (1) extending from the photoelectric modules (A, A') is formed into a wiring section (B) equipped with an optical waveguide (W) optically connected to the optical elements (10, 10'). A metal reinforcing layer (6) is provided at a portion extending over the photoelectric module sections (A, A') and the wiring section (B) on the back surface of the insulating layer (1). The width of the portion of the metal reinforcing layer provided over the wiring portion (B) is set narrower than the width of the portion of the metal reinforcing layer provided over the photoelectric modules (A, A'), and the base corner part is rounded where the width narrows. Thereby, it is possible to protect the optical waveguide from bending and twisting of the wiring section while ensuring the flexibility of the wiring section equipped with the optical waveguide, and to thus suppress an increase in optical propagation loss. |
