[Problem] To provide a method for sterilizing a cosmetic composition, a preservation method, cosmetic seeds and a cosmetic set comprising the cosmetic seeds. [Solution] In the present invention, plant seeds which comprise at least galacturonic acid and rhamnose as components are exposed to a biocidal gaseous atmosphere that has been decompressed and then compressed to a pressure higher than normal pressure, and then by decompressing the atmosphere, common bacteria on the plant seeds are reduced to a number acceptable for use as a cosmetic. These plant seeds are capable of forming a pectin film in water when immersed in water. This biocidal gas can be selected from any mixture of ethylene oxide, ethylene glycol, ethylene chlorohydrin, and inert gas. |
