PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required for a cleaning control after a print control.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier (photoreceptor drum 51); a holding roller (cleaning roller 55); and a control unit capable of executing a print preparation control for rotating a belt (conveyance belt 73), a print control for transferring a developer image on the image carrier on a sheet, a holding control for holding a developer by a holding roller, and a cleaning control for moving the developer held by the holding roller to the image carrier, and causing a recovery unit (cleaning unit 10) to recover the developer via the image carrier and the belt. The control unit starts the cleaning control after the print control, stops the cleaning control before the developer (toner T) moved to the image carrier from the holding roller positioned on the most downstream side in a movement direction of a surface 73A reaches the recovery unit, and resumes the cleaning control stopped in the next print preparation control. |
