<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element which efficiently extracts waveguide mode light to the outside and suppresses increase of a drive voltage, an illumination device with the same and an image display device with the same.SOLUTION: An organic EL element 10 includes a first electrode 2, an organic layer 3 and a second electrode 4 in order. Between the first electrode and the second electrode, a dielectric layer 5 is provided that has a refraction factor different from that of the organic layer. The dielectric layer includes a plurality of dielectric layer hole parts 5A penetrating the dielectric layer. The first electrode includes a first electrode penetration hole part 2A communicating to a part of the plurality of the dielectric layer hole parts among the plurality of dielectric layer hole parts and penetrating the first electrode. A first hole part is formed from only the dielectric layer hole part, and a second hole part is formed from a dielectric layer hole part and a first electrode penetration hole part communicating to that dielectric layer hole part. The organic layer includes a first hole part inner side surface covering part 3a covering an inner side surface of the first hole part, and a second hole part inner side surface covering part 3b covering an inner side surface of the second hole part.</p> |
