PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of shortening the time required till starting an operation of image formation after a cleaning operation of an auxiliary charging device.SOLUTION: A bias application control part 101 includes: a transfer roller cleaning mode for causing a transfer bias application part 252 to apply a bias having the same polarity as a normal charging polarity of toner on a transfer roller 25; and an auxiliary charging device cleaning mode for causing an auxiliary charging bias application part 263 to apply a bias having an opposite polarity to a normal charging polarity of toner on an auxiliary charging device 26. The bias application control part 101 controls the biases applied on the transfer bias application part 252 and the auxiliary charging bias application part 263 so that the peripheral surface position of a photoreceptor drum 21 which finishes the transfer roller cleaning mode is the same as the peripheral surface position of the photoreceptor drum 21 which finishes the auxiliary charging device cleaning mode. |
