DOUBLE MIRROR STRUCTURE FOR WAVELENGTH DIVISION MULTIPLEXING WITH POLYMER WAVEGUIDES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for wavelength filtering and structures for accomplishing the same.SOLUTION: A method for forming a wavelength filtering structure includes forming grooves in a waveguide 102 to define inclined surfaces 110 in a path of the waveguide 102; forming a reflective layer on the inclined surfaces 110; depositing cladding material 106 on the top of the waveguide 102 and on the inclined surfaces; forming on an active region of an opto-electronic device 114 a filter layer 112 which transmits a single wavelength and reflects other wavelengths used; depositing the opto-electrical device 114 on the cladding layer 106 such that the filter layer 112 is aligned with a point of incidence of a light beam 104 reflected from the reflective layer; and electrically bonding the opto-electronic device 114 to vias 116 in the waveguide structure.
