PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colored composition for a color filter, which suppresses exposure of a particle active surface, can disperse a pigment into a sub-micron region of 1 μm or less, and achieves filtration property and a property of inhibiting generation of crystalline foreign substances, required for a color filter.SOLUTION: A production method of a colored composition for a color filter is provided, which includes a first step of kneading a mixture containing a pigment, a resin type dispersant, and a solvent by use of a biaxial extruder type kneading apparatus to obtain a kneaded material. The concentration of a solid content in 100 wt.% of the mixture is 65 to 90 wt.%.
