Disclosed is a service agent method. The method comprises: a modem receiving heartbeat configuration information corresponding to an application sent by an application processor, the application processor being in a sleeping state after sending the heartbeat configuration information corresponding to the application; and the modem establishing a heartbeat connection with an application server corresponding to the application according to the heartbeat configuration information corresponding to the application, so that the application processor is not wakened when the application processor has no content update. By means of the solutions provided in the embodiments of the present invention, an AP can be prevented from being frequently wakened, thereby reducing power consumption of a terminal and extending the standby time of the terminal.
