Forage harvester (1) comprising a header (2) for picking up a swath (13) from a ground surface, wherein said header (2) comprises a first and a second distance sensor (3, 4) being adapted to measure a sensor-to-target distance respectively along a first and second sensor axis (5, 6), wherein the first distance sensor (3) is mounted at the location of a first lateral end of said header (2) and wherein the second distance sensor (4) is mounted at the location of a second lateral end of said header (2), and wherein the first and second distance sensors (3, 4) are positioned such that, when the forage harvester (1) is placed on an even ground surface, said first sensor axis (5) crosses said second sensor axis (6) before reaching the even ground surface in front of the harvester.
