956,031. Magnetising apparatus. SOC. D'ELECTRONIQUE ET D'AUTOMISME. Feb. 22, 1961 [Feb. 25, 1960], No. 6500/61. Heading H1P. [Also in Division H2] A flat annular air gap electrical rotating machine comprising in the embodiment shown in Fig. 5 a discoidal rotor 15 enclosed between two discoidal stator members 1, 2 and 3, 4 which carry rings of field magnets 9 . . . 12, Fig. 1, is made by a method which comprises forming the stator members into two shells 1, 3 and 2, 4, magnetizing the magnets 9 . . . 12 with a zero air gap, Fig. 2, by means of windings 13, separating the members 1, 2 from 3, 4 to remove the windings 13, and assembling between them the rotor 15. To confine saturation to the poles 9 . . . 12 during the magnetization process the yokes 1 . . . 4 have temporarily applied to them additional magnetic plates 14. After separation, the members 1, 2 and 3, 4 are spaced apart by struts 5 . . . 8 which determine the required air gap. The poles 9 . . . 12 may be slotted as shown. In other embodiments not shown there are two rotor discs between which is inserted a stator magnetic disc similarly divided into two parts assembled into the respective shells, or only one of the two stator members carries magnets, or the protruding poles shown are replaced by localised magnetization in ferrite half-rings. The stator may be divided into more than two shells. Specification 874,394 is referred to. |
