PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reclining device in which when a lock-free state released, a plurality of pawls simultaneously return to a locked state to instantaneously generate a large locking strength.SOLUTION: The reclining device includes: projections 51 formed along the circumferential direction of a rachet 21; a first cam 31 disposed between the ratchet 21 and a base plate 25, and rotatable on a rotation axis; and a second cam 45 disposed to span two adjacent pawls 41 and 43, and when being pressed by the first cam 31, pressing the two pawls 41 and 43, moving the pawls 41 and 43 in the direction in which external teeth 41a, 43a are meshed with internal tooth 23, and forming a projection 45e which can ride over the top of the projection 51; and a spiral spring 47 for urging the pawls 41 and 43 in a direction meshing with the internal tooth 23 through the second cam 45. The projection quantity of the projection 51 is set so that when the projection 45e of the second cam 45 riding over the projection, the external teeth 41a and 43a hold the respective pawls 41 and 43 at a position away from the internal teeth 23. |
