<p>The invention aims to provide a currency processing device and a currency processing method, which can reliably detect a paper clip from the input of a user and can easily remove the detected paper clip. The currency processing device includes a conveying path (16) for conveying the input; a light emitting part (22) emitting light (La) on the conveyed input; a shooting part (23) receiving the reflected light (Lb) of the emitting light (La) reflected by the input and shooting the input; a storage part (18) storing the images of the input shot by the shooting part (23); a control part (20) which determines whether the input is a processible medium based on the outline of the input extracting from the shooting image, if the input is a coin (30) which is processible, the input is regarded as a foreign matter and the control part outputs the foreign matter image (55) representing the shape of the paper clip (40); and a second operation/display part (25) displaying the foreign matter (55).</p> |
