This pneumatic tire (10) is configured so as to include a tread section (11). The pneumatic tire (10) is provided with: a carcass (15); an inclined belt (16); and a circumferential-direction belt (17). The inclined belt (16) comprises inclined belt layers (16a, 16b) provided with at least one layer of cord which is inclined with respect to a tire circumferential direction. Circumferential-direction main grooves (14) are provided in the tread section (11). The inclined belt (16) includes a steep-angle-inclination belt layer (16a) provided with cord having an inclination angle in the range of 35-90˚ inclusive with respect to the tire circumferential direction. In at least one half of the tread, an edge of the steep-angle-inclination belt layer (16a) in a tire width direction is positioned further outwards in the tire width direction than the outermost of the circumferential-direction main grooves (14) in the tire width direction. When W1 is the width of the steep-angle-inclination belt layer (16a) in the tire width direction, the interval, in the tire width direction, from the aforementioned edge to a centre of the outermost of the circumferential-direction main grooves (14) is at least 0.2W1 but not more than 0.35W1. |
