<p>The purpose of the present invention is to provide a coil spring which can be inhibited from suffering a separation between the carbon fibers even when strong force that widens the spring is applied thereto or the force is repeatedly applied. The coil spring is a cylindrical coil spring which is constituted of a carbon-fiber-reinforced carbon composite material and has an axial hole (1) and a spiral gap both formed therein, and is characterized in that the carbon-fiber-reinforced carbon composite material includes multiple layers of first carbon fibers (4) unidirectionally arranged in parallel so as to extend in a horizontal direction which is perpendicular to the direction of the axial hole (1) and multiple layers of second carbon fibers (5) unidirectionally arranged so as to extend in a horizontal direction that makes a horizontal-direction angle of 30-90° with the direction in which the first carbon fibers extend, and that the multiple layers of the first carbon fibers (4) and second carbon fibers (5) have been stacked, with a carbonaceous matrix disposed between the stacked layers of the carbon fibers.</p> |
