In a gas cooled nuclear reactor having a prestressed concrete pressure vessel, the internal surface of the concrete is steel lined to provide a gas-tight seal and is thermally insulated by a layer of cooling tubes which are secured to the lining inner surface and through which coolant water flows. The tubes are mounted between two concentric corrugated metal sheets the free spaces between which may be filled with steel wool or glass. |
