An electrophotographic photosensitive member includes a photosensitive layer containing a naphthalenediimide derivative represented by the following general formula (1). In the general formula (1), R 1 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms and optionally having an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an aralkyl group having 7 to 12 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 10 carbon atoms, or an alkoxy group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms. R 2 and R 3 , independently from each other, each represent an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a halogen group, or a cyano group. |
