Medical image registration by means of optical coherence tomography

The method involves assigning a real patient body part (20) to a stored image of the body part, where the body part has a rigid structure (24) and an overlying soft structure (22). A position of a reference point (27) on the rigid structure is determined by the soft structure by an optical coherence tomography (OCT) device (10) during recording a real space position of the body part. An OCT-beam is radiated on the body part by the OCT device or by a radiation unit of the OCT device. An independent claim is also included for a pointer unit for a medical image registration device.
