In a chair having a seat and back mounted on a bracket 24 (Fig. 2) which is rockably mounted on a trunnion 23, the trunnion being supported by the chair legs 21, a spring or springs 24a are positioned between the bracket 24 and the legs 21 and a member 26 fixed with respect to the chair interlocks in a plurality of positions with a second member 25 fixed with respect to the trunnion 23. The chair comprises a hollow shell 10 made up of half shells 11, 12 covered by foam rubber and vinyl upholstery. Cushions 16 are attached to the half shells 11 by snap fasteners 15. A table may be housed in a cavity 18 in the shell 10. Sockets 17 receive projections on the table 18. A release button 28 is provided for disengaging the members 25, 26. Such disengagement cannot take place when the projections on the table 18 are inserted in the sockets 17. A head rest 31 is provided which is adjustable in height. In a modification, Fig. 9 (not shown), the tilt of the chair is adjusted by hydraulic means. A number of seat shells 10 may be mounted on one trunnion 23 (Fig. 11). Separate arm rests 53 may be rigidly mounted on the trunnion 23.</p> |
