The present invention relates to a mobile terminal capable of wireless communication, and a control method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for controlling a mobile terminal where a message application is being executed comprises the steps of: setting a reception terminal to transmit a message; requesting message reception information including state information of the reception terminal to the reception terminal when the reception terminal is set; and receiving the message reception information in response to the request, and grouping the reception and at least one sub-reception terminal to receive an additional message aside from the reception terminal based on the received message reception information.
