Exhaust pipes 5a, Bb, lead into a front equalising chamber 5 from which two pipes 3, 4, lead to different sectors of the turbine of a turbocharger, one of the passages 3 being closable, e.g. at low speeds by a flap valve 6 pivoted on the wall of chamber 5. When the valve 6 is opened, it retracts into a recess 8. The valve 6 may be controlled by a device responsive to engine operating conditions. |
