In a cable twisting installation, Fig. 1, in which individual wires 14a, 14b follow arcuate paths from draw-off frames 1a, 1b to a take-up frame 4, each of said paths comprises a stationary arcuate supporting member carrying a plurality of rollers, indicated at 13a and 13b in Fig. 1, over which the wire 14 runs, each roller being rotatable in a support or cradle 17, Fig.2 (not shown) the support or cradle being mounted on a shaft 16 that extends radially through the arcuate supporting member 15. In Fig.2 each roller 19 rotates on a pin 18 that in transverse to, but offset from the shaft 16 of its support 17 and in such an embodiment each shaft 16 carries a balancing mass 20. Alternatively,the pin 18 and shaft 16 may intersect and the balancing mass omitted. The pins 18 extend into an arcuate coupling segment 21 that may be adjustably set by means of a nut 21a to maintain the rollers at equal angular positions relatively to the arcuate supporting member 15. Fig. 5 (not shown) shows a modification in which the arcuate supporting member 15 carrier crossed rollers 22a, 22b, to guide the wire 14. |
