Exhaust system with active silencer

The system (3) has an exhaust pipe (10) guiding an exhaust gas flow (11) away from an internal combustion engine (2) during operation of the engine. A housing (13) of an active sound absorber (12) is acoustically attached to the exhaust pipe over a connecting tube (15) that is actively and/or passively cooled. The tube is arranged in or at a motor vehicle (1) i.e. passenger car, such that it is exposed to air flow developed by driving operation of the vehicle or produced by a blower (17) provided at the vehicle. The blower is attached to the connecting tube.
