发明名称 Improvements in coin selecting and testing mechanism
摘要
941,211. Coin testing. FISHER & LUDLOW Ltd. Oct. 2,1962 [Oct. 2, 1961], No. 35514/61. Heading G4V. Polygonal coins are tested for length of edge, diameter, and thickness, and are distinguished from circular coins of a similar diameter. Coins of ferrous material are arrested by a magnet. The mechanism is designed to test the polygonal threepenny piece and is characterized by the provision of opposed parallel racks of teeth, studs, or rods, the spacing between which equals a polygonal edge and the distance between the racks being equal to the diameter of the inscribed circle of the polygon. The teeth of one rack are positioned to lie opposite the spaces between teeth of the other rack. One rack 17 is mounted on a base plate 11 and the other rack 20 is mounted on a clearing plate 13 hinged to the base plate. Plate 13 is shown open but the position of the rack 20 when the plate 13 is closed is shown in dotted outline. Each tooth of the rack 20 is placed opposite a trough in the rack 17. Coins roll on to an initial flat portion 21a of rack 17 to allow them to gain momentum and are then allowed to get in step with the rack 17 over a number of teeth before encountering the upper rack 20. Before coins reach the racks they are gauged for thickness by a gap, between the flat portion 21a of the rack 17 and the clearing plate 13, which allows thin coins to fall through. By inclining the mechanism so that coins rub against the clearing plate 13 they are gauged for overall diameter by means of a window 23 and a bent out tab 24 placed opposite the flat portion 21a of the rack 17. At the same time, a magnet 26 spaced from coins by a non- magnetic screen 27 on the plate 13, arrests spurious coins of ferrous material. Circular coins which have passed the preceding tests will have a diameter in excess of the diameter of the inscribed circle of a threepenny bit and will consequently jam between the racks 17 and 20. Polygonal coins of too large a diameter, or with the wrong number of sides, or with irregular sides, will also jam between the racks. Due to the forward inclination of the device, jammed coins are released by opening the clearing plate 13 to allow them to precipitate themselves into a container 16. The non-magnetic screen 27 allows coins held by magnet 26 to be dislodged as the clearing plate 13 opens.
